The Verdict

Worth it for your honeymoon?

Hilton Bora Bora Nui is the biggest swing on the island and, for honeymooners who want drama without spending Four Seasons money, probably the sharpest deal in French Polynesia. Set on its own private island (Motu Toopua), the resort has 120 overwater, beachfront and hillside villas spread across a long sweep of turquoise lagoon, with the best sunset views on Bora Bora — you literally watch the sun sink behind Mount Otemanu from your villa deck. The architecture leans traditional Polynesian with peaked thatched roofs, but the interiors were fully refreshed to a modern, light, neutral palette. The showstopper is Hina Spa, carved into a hillside cave — treatment rooms open onto lagoon views and volcanic rock walls. Dining is solid across three restaurants (Iriatai for French fine dining is the honeymoon choice). Service is warm and professional without being stiff, and because of the resort's scale there is more happening than at smaller properties — sunset cruises, shark and ray feeding, a proper infinity pool, a real gym. The honest downside: it's a Hilton, so you will see conference energy creep in during shoulder season, and the beach, while lovely, is narrower than at Le Bora Bora or Pearl Beach. But value-for-dollar, and for couples who want options and activity, this is the smart Bora Bora pick.

Room Recommendation

Which room to book

Expert Pick
from $900–$3,500/night range

The Overwater Villa with Sunset View is the signature honeymoon choice — glass floor panels, outdoor deck with direct lagoon ladder, and a private sunset view of Otemanu that frankly no other resort on Bora Bora can match. If budget allows, the Two-Bedroom Overwater Villa or the Royal Overwater Villa with private plunge pool are worth the jump for a milestone trip. Avoid the Garden Pool Villa for a honeymoon — you came to Bora Bora for the water, not a garden.

Honest Assessment

What to know before you book

!

Transfers via resort speedboat cost around $200 per couple round-trip and are not included.

!

Wi-Fi is complimentary but patchy in overwater villas during weather.

!

The resort is large (120 villas) so expect other couples around — this is not a hideaway.

!

Some beach villas are close together; pay up for overwater.

!

Food and drink prices are brutal even by Bora Bora standards; consider a half-board package.

!

The main beach has some coral underfoot — water shoes help.
